More on height limitations
A lot of carseat companies boast about their weight limitations, that i think could be misleading. I primarily chose a child seat that had a higher weight limit of 35 pounds, thinking I’d have the ability to put it to use for two years until my son reached that weight. A mom friend of mine remarked that kids typically outgrow the height limitations prior to the weight limitations. When I saw that the height limitation of my son’s seat was 31 inches, and my son was fast approaching that height even before his first birthday, I felt duped!
It is strongly recommended that you switch your son or daughter from a child bucket seat to a rear-facing convertible seat around their first birthday. Around that point, the very best of their head is going to be too near to the most notable of the automobile seat. Typically, you want the most notable of their check out be higher than 1 inch from the top of the trunk of the automobile seat.
Chicco addresses this height limit issue by making their Fit2 infant seat convertible to a toddler seat, thus increasing the height limit. The height limit for the Fit2 is 35 inches tall, which is approximately the height of your average 2 year old. That’s why they state it will last you until your son or daughter is about 24 months old, but of course this will change from kid to kid.
Chicco did this partly to market keeping kids rear-facing until at least 2 yrs of age. The rules at this time tell keep your son or daughter rear-facing until at least 24 months of age, but also for so long as possible even from then on!
So although it’s great that you’ll get more use out of the car seat, I believe many persons may still decide on a convertible seat down the road. That way you will keep your son or daughter rear-facing longer since a convertible seat has higher limitations compared to the Chicco Fit2 for rear-facing.
The Chicco Fit2 not merely includes a convertible base, but it’s super simple to use, too! You just lift a lever on the automobile seat base to convert the bottom from infant to toddler position. Toddler stage is for whenever your baby starts to crawl or walk – essentially if they have better muscle control.
Bubble level indicator
A bubble level indicator is crucial for me on child car seats. It may seem to be like such a feature, but having used both a bubble indicator and the essential line indicator, the bubble indicator is indeed a lot more accurate. Some child car seats just have a printed horizontal line on them you need to eyeball to get level with the bottom. This doesn’t cut it for me personally. There’s an excessive amount of human error involved. Carseat level is such a significant factor in carseat installation, I believe it’s important to decide on a seat with the bubble level.
Supercinch is Chicco’s easy-to-install feature. When installing an automobile seat base, you have to tighten the LATCH straps in order that the bottom doesn’t move laterally. This could be extremely difficult on some carseat base models.
Supercinch does most of the tightening for you, which means you don’t need to pull on the LATCH straps so difficult that you pull a muscle too!
As your son or daughter grows, you must adapt the harness height level accordingly. A no-rethread harness ensures that you don’t need to unthread the harness straps and rethread them back through so that you can adapt the harness strap level. Ultimately, this removes the prospect of human error from the procedure, so it’s an excellent feature to have.
7 position headrest
You want the automobile seat’s harness straps to be as near your child’s shoulder level as possible. As your son or daughter grows and you adapt the harness, the more possibilities, the better. Seven positions is more options than other similar child car seats available to buy have.
This is an attribute you certainly don’t see often. You merely need one hand to adapt the handle. Usually, you must squeeze two buttons to go the handle to another position. Hey, whatever takes one hand out of your equation in terms of parenting is a wonderful feature in my own book!
Compact in comparison to convertible seats
This Fit2 is made as an infant bucket seat, so that it is relatively compact, especially when compared to bulkier convertible seat.
I mentioned previously the convertible base, but this is often a even greater feature for those who have both a child and a toddler. Assuming you have two of these child car seats and carseat bases, it will offer you more versatility in terms of switching between cars etc.
Travel system compatibility
This car seat works with with Chicco strollers to be utilized as a travel system. While I stopped carrying my son around in his infant carseat once it got overweight for me personally (around ten months roughly), I’d definitely utilize the Fit2 within the travel system if he were to drift off in the car. I’ve also discovered that sometimes he’s totally content in his carseat, but doesn’t like being applied for and then strapped right into a stroller. The Fit2 extends that timeframe that you can click on the car seat out of your carseat base and in to the stroller.
Using the two 2 Stages
The Fit2 will come in at just a little over 12 pounds. I understand in testing many different infant seats, I felt the heaviest I’d go was about 9 pounds. Of course, this will change from individual to individual. If you’re uncertain about the weight, go take a look at a store to get a concept of how heavy it really is in comparison to other seats that you can buy!

While there are many color options to select from, they aren’t completely different from each other. All of them are darker, solid colors. While I love the present day look of the seat, I really do prefer to see more options! Especially bright colors or fun patterns.
Is is cost-effective?
I really like infant seats that works extremely well within a travel system, but I believe it’s always vital that you remind persons that you’re likely to need to buy a convertible seat down the road.
The Fit2 may potentially enable you to get to booster seat stage, but I’m a huge proponent of keeping children rear-facing at night age of two, really until they outgrow a convertible seat. As the AAP and NHTSA recommend at the least 2 yrs rear-facing, there is more info developing that suggests keeping them rear-facing for even longer than that.
So as a result of this, I don’t necessarily see purchasing the Fit2 as cost-effective for the reason that you might not manage to miss the convertible seat altogether.
If you’re buying highly regarded infant seat that isn’t as expensive, definitely have a look at Chicco’s KeyFit 30. You can read more about its features plus the benefits and drawbacks about investing in a bucket seat pitched against a convertible seat in my own other review here.
The Chicco Fit2 is among the highest rated child car seats, with hardly any concerns expressed.

The Chicco Fit2 is a good option for a child seat because it can last you closer to 2 yrs, instead of the normal one year. I really do still see the dependence on purchasing a convertible carseat following this seat though. So although you’ll get a supplementary year out of your initial carseat, you will still have that other cost low the street. Plus, the Fit2 is on the bigger end of the newborn car seat cost range.
For that reason, if you’re on a budget, I’d check out Chicco’s less costly model, the KeyFit 30. It includes a large amount of the same great benefits at a far more affordable price.
So while I must say i have nothing bad to state about the Chicco Fit2 carseat apart from it’s weight, it can come in at a price. You do get quality features because of this added price, but personally I’d go with a more affordable model regardless if it wouldn’t last those two full years
